The Design in Motion gala event in Oakland, California holds a yearly bag design auction to raise money for a foundation called Youth Uprising.  I was asked to create a new design from a simple canvas tote, and to tell a story through its textures and patterns.  The various stitches on the bag represent each of our unique gifts and experiences that we bring to our communities, teams, and friendships.  All of the stitches are leafed under jersey pockets, which represents how a group of individuals can also be unified to create a bold statement.  The functionality of the canvas tote was also transformed into being a holder for oversized drawings!  Yoga mats also welcome.
