Catching Roofscapes
Two interlocking systems work in unison to create a dynamic, flexible, and eco-forward building. The first system is the roof canopy system. Its exciting form allow it to catch rainfall water into its structural trunks that meet the ground. This water is filtered undergound and is recycled back into the building. This flowing roof reflects the power wood can carry when it is innovatively designed in compression elements. The second system is a high performance wooden deck that hosts private program within its volume as well as public program on its exposed surfaces. Where the two systems meet are where the soup dining hall takes place. When the retractable glass curtain system is folded away, the dining hall can transform into an open air deck, perfect for farmers' markets on sunny sunday afternoons.
